At VIVA EVE, we specialize in providing comprehensive counseling and UFE (Uterine Fibroid Embolization) procedures to women looking for a medically advanced, safe alternative to treat the symptoms of adenomyosis.
Adenomyosis is a non-cancerous condition of the uterus. In women with adenomyosis, the lining cells of the uterus grow directly into the muscle wall of the uterus. When the lining cells of the uterus bleed during the menstrual period, these misplaced cells in the muscle bleed as well. Bleeding that seeps directly into the muscle causes pain.
The technique used to treat adenomyosis is virtually the same as the one used to treat uterine fibroids. Unlike hysterectomy, UFE is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure designed to block the blood flow to the affected area causing it to die and the symptoms to subside. This procedure does not require general anesthesia and is performed while the patient is conscious or minimally sedated but feeling no pain.
The interventional radiologist makes a tiny incision and inserts a catheter into the radial or femoral artery. Using real-time imaging, the physician guides the catheter through the artery and then releases tiny particles, the size of grains of sand, into the uterine arteries that supply blood to the troubled area without affecting the blood supply to the rest of the uterus. The UFE procedure usually lasts about an hour.
"The care I received from the nurses and doctors after my procedure was remarkable. I was very impressed at the fact that they were actually checking on me at the facility every moment to make sure that I was comfortable and I had everything that I needed, that they called me at home the day after, and that the pharmacy actually delivered pills to my house! After this procedure, VIVA EVE is a place that I would definitely recommend to anyone who has fibroid issues."

Is UFE Right For You?
You may be a candidate for Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), if you fit into any of the following categories:
- Your symptoms of adenomyosis are so serious that they disrupt the rhythm of your body and your overall sense of well-being
- You want to keep your uterus and are looking for alternatives to hysterectomy
- You would like to avoid major surgery
- You may be a poor surgical candidate (some include obesity, bleeding disorders, anemia and other conditions)
We make it our mission to ensure our patients feel comfortable and confident before, during, and after the procedure. At VIVA EVE, we offer round-trip transportation on the day of the procedure for our patients or pay for their parking if they prefer to use their own vehicle. We do our absolute best to make sure your visit runs as smoothly as possible and that your recovery is swift and uneventful with regular check-ins, even after the procedure.
