At VIVA EVE, we specialize in providing comprehensive counseling and UFE (Uterine Fibroid Embolization) procedures to women looking for a medically advanced, safe alternative to the major surgery commonly used to treat fibroid tumors.
Unlike hysterectomy, UFE is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure designed to block the blood flow to the fibroid tumor, shrinking it until it dies. This procedure does not require general anesthesia and is performed while the patient is conscious or minimally sedated, but feeling no pain.
The interventional radiologist makes a tiny incision and inserts a catheter into the radial or femoral artery. Using real-time imaging, the physician guides the catheter through the artery and then releases tiny particles, the size of grains of sand, into the uterine arteries that supply blood to the fibroids without affecting the blood supply to the rest of the uterus. The UFE procedure usually lasts about an hour.
"I’m very happy I went with UFE. The doctor sat me down and said, 'Hey, listen, we’ve got other options beside major surgery. There’s a little bit more modern technology out there. You don’t have to remove a part of your body. You don’t have to go through all these side effects. The recovery time is 90% shorter than a hysterectomy'… I’m very happy that I went with the least invasive option, the UFE."

Is UFE Right For You?
You may be a candidate for Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), if you fit into any of the following categories:
- Your symptoms of adenomyosis are so serious that they disrupt the rhythm of your body and your overall sense of well-being
- You want to keep your uterus and are looking for alternatives to hysterectomy
- You would like to avoid major surgery
- You may be a poor surgical candidate (some include obesity, bleeding disorders, anemia and other conditions)
We make it our mission to ensure our patients feel comfortable and confident before, during, and after the procedure. At VIVA EVE, we offer round-trip transportation on the day of the procedure for our patients or pay for their parking if they prefer to use their own vehicle. We do our absolute best to make sure your visit runs as smoothly as possible and that your recovery is swift and uneventful with regular check-ins even after the procedure.
